What is the game about?

After being betrayed by a colleague during a mission, freelance mercenary Thomas Mason vows vengeance on a global terrorist organization that tattoos all of its operators with identical tattoos on their necks.  The game has a setting, graphics, and moves similar to that of Call of Duty. So, if you are a Call of Duty fan, or better yet, a pro, then you already have half the game figured out. 

Gameplay 

Payback, like its predecessors, is known for its gore and dismemberment. As stated earlier as well, the controls and mechanics of the game is pretty similar to that of Call of Duty. This is a first-person shooter game and has two modes installed in it – single-player and multiplayer. Regenerating health is also quite easy in this game period all you need to do is to steer clear of fire. The achievements that the player games in the game are split between the two modes. With proper boosting, you can finish the game in just about 12 hours or so. In the single-player mode, there are a total of five missions, which are again split into different smaller levels. It would take about only five hours or so to complete the game even on the highest difficulty mode. The achievements you gain in this mode, but mostly before getting kills and dismemberment milestones and for beating levels in the hard levels. You do not have to indulge in multiple playthroughs because here are cumulative achievements are of more value. The multiplayer gaming mode was not very popular among the fans though. If you like interacting with other gamer friends online then this would be a good mode for you as it lets you find random people for matches and then play with them. However, it might become a bit difficult for you to start with ranked matches at the beginning itself. But again, there are very few ranked achievements to unlock and most of them can be unlocked on the first shot.

Graphics

True that not everyone has a taste for dismemberment graphics, but if you are someone who has a taste for it, then this game is just for you. It has all the elements of thriller and horror that you might be looking for.

The plot gives a certain rogue touch to the entire vibe of the game which is especially needed for shooter games. It enhances the essence of the game, making the player take cautious steps, to fulfil the agenda of the character. 

Simple but interesting

The gaming mechanics are pretty simple to grasp after one or two attempts. If you are already a Call of Duty player then it just becomes easier still for you, but even without that, mastering the skill would require just an hour or so of practice on the game. That would not render the game boring though, because the more expertise you obtain the more levels you clear, and the more difficult the subsequent levels become. 

Different gaming modes

There are two gaming modes available in the game across which the achievements are divided. You choose accordingly. If you like playing alone, honing your skills, you have the single-player mode. Again, if you like meeting new people and playing with them, you have multiplayer gaming mode.  Even though the game is quite fun to play, you must understand that this is not a game for the weak-hearted. If you cannot handle gore graphics it is probably best for you to steer clear of the game.
